Oscar Watching Snacks

If you're like me, you never miss an opportunity to try out new, fun recipes. I love finding ones for snacks and appetizers to spice up my everyday meals. In honor of the Oscars this Sunday, I found 6 new recipes to make your Oscar viewing a night your stomach will never forget. From popcorn to shrimp to cupcakes, your party menu will have it all!

1. Chocolate Covered Popcorn
Source: Dying for Chocolate
The Oscars are all about celebrating the best of Hollywood, so why not celebrate with the best of popcorn? Chocolate covered popcorn would win an Oscar for best snack in my opinion. For the popcorn, you can either use microwave popcorn or follow the recipe from my healthy snacks post without adding the seasoning. Lay out the popcorn on a cookie sheet. Melt half a bag of semi sweet chocolate chips in the microwave and drizzle it over the popcorn, allowing it to dry before serving.

2. Roasted Grape and Blue Cheese Crostini
Source: Two Peas and their Pod
Alright, just the name of this sounds fancy; it upholds the regal air of the Oscars spirit. Not to mention it looks sooooo delicious. They are the perfect appetizer for your Oscars party or any party for that matter because they are delicious and easy to make! All you do is cut a baguette into thin slices and bake the olive oil and grapes in the oven. Then put the mix, a drizzle of honey, and the blue cheese on top of the bread and toast the slices for about five minutes at 400 degrees. For the full recipe, visit Two Peas and their Pod.

3. Firecracker Shrimp
Source: Bacon, Butter, Cheese& Garlic
Mmm I love seafood. This spicy snack will light up your taste buds in a fierce frenzy as you await the best awards of the night. This mix of spicy and savory will taste so good paired with your crostini bread! The heat from the pepperjack cheese and jalapeno slices are balanced with shrimp and bacon, that are sure to please everyone. They take about a half hour to prepare and make, so you'll be done in no time! For the full recipe, visit
Bacon, Butter, Cheese, & Garlic!

4. Almond Crusted Baked Eggplant

Now for the main course of snacking: Eggplant bites! These beauties taste like fried heaven, but they are healthy! When the nominees read their acceptances speeches, you will be munching on your fancy bites. These bites are relatively easy to prepare and only take about an hour to prepare and bake. It's a perfect vegetarian option for any party! It's very simple to make; you just cut the eggplant, dip it in the batter, and bake! It is recommended that you dip it in marinara sauce as well! The Best Beauty of Oscars 2013

With the Oscars only four days away, there is little time we have left to wait until we get to celebrate the best in movies and see the best and worst dressed. Until then, I decided to revisit red carpet past to find the best hair and  makeup of Oscars 2013. People often overlook the makeup and hair when they are busy criticizing the celebs' dress picks. Personally, I prefer seeing the hair and makeup so I can try to replicate it on myself. Unless I somehow find millions of dollars in my back pocket, I won't be able to afford the dresses that they wear.

While some celebs go for very avant garde looks (I'm talking about you, Helena Bonham Carter!), these lovely ladies keep it classy and effortless.

Naomi Watts
Naomi looked so elegant last year with her light makeup and loose hair. She looked effortless and well put together. I hope she chooses a look similar to this one this year because she looks fabulous. Can I please look like her for a day?

Jenna Dewan-Tatum
Jenna seriously looked gorgeous last year. At like 8 months pregnant, she looked like a goddess. (She's like a pregnancy unicorn. 10 points for Gryffindor if you know the reference:) I loved how her smoky eye wasn't overpowering; it was sultry yet elegant. Her hair color is envious and her hair looks awesome in this updo. She not only has Channing Tatum as a husband, but a beautiful face and hair. I'm jealous.

  Jennifer Garner
I wish I could look half as good everyday as Jennifer does in this picture. She looks perfect for anything, whether it's a red carpet event or a day at the office. She has a timeless hairdo and makeup that could be worn by anyone at any time. I'm considering this hairdo for prom because I love it so much.

Charlize Theron
Charlize is STUNNING in this picture. I literally can't even describe how happy this picture makes me. She is so beautiful and her haircut looks great on her. I'm not usually a fan of pixie cuts, but Charlize rocks it. It makes me want to cut my hair that short someday. Overall, she's drop dead gorgeous, so no matter how she styles herself, she will always look amazing.

Oscar Nominees I Want To Meet

We all have a mental list of celebrities we want to meet. I could list so many people that this post would go on for days. They all seem like such interesting people to hang out with. We also have this irrational belief that the actors are just like their prominent roles. I can honestly tell you that I don't see Michelle Trachtenberg in a good light all the time because I  see her as Georgina Sparks from Gossip Girl. While what I say is true, I'm positive it would be very fun to meet certain people. (Ellen DeGeneres can't not be that funny in real life!) In keeping with the Oscars theme, if I could pick any of the nominees to hang out with, I would pick these actors.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Not coincidentally is she my first pick. She's SO FREAKING AWESOME. If you couldn't tell by my entire blog post dedicated to her, I have a serious woman crush on her. She's sassy, funny, sarcastic, and real. If her hilarious interview antics don't prove my point enough, then I don't know what will.

2. Jonah Hill

With his long-winded resume of raunchy comedies, Jonah couldn't be anything less than hilarious in real life. From his Superbad Supersized days to his now slimmed figure and Oscar nominated role, Jonah has really improved a lot. I feel like he would be like the awesome older brother who always has wicked crazy stories. I definitely couldn't pass up meeting with him.

3. Bradley Cooper

Hot damn. But seriously, I love Bradley Cooper. Not only is he insanely gorgeous, but he is funny, too. Not to mention that he also is an alma mater of my top choice school (Hoya Saxa!), so his intelligence makes him infinitely more awesome. Basically he has beauty, brains, and humor, which makes for the perfect guy and and awesome person to hang out with.

4. Leonardo DiCaprio

It's Leo Freaking DiCaprio . . . Need I say more????? I wish he was about 10 years younger so I wouldn't feel so bad about fantasizing about him, but hey. He's seriously only gotten better looking with age. And he's wicked good at Boston accents which is so attractive to me. He just seems like an all around great guy who would be a good celeb to meet.

Let me know what celebrities you want to meet. Stay tuned this week for more Oscars related posts! If you want to see the best hair and makeup from last year's Oscars, come back tomorrow!

Academy Award Winning Asset

It's nearly bikini season and you know what that means: every girl is trying to squeeze in extra workouts to get her body Spring Break ready. Do you want to know the secret to having the best bikini body? A perfect butt, of course! (It's not really a secret, but just roll with it.) Whether you've been blessed with a prominent butt or have a barely-there bum, I have a list of exercises you should try to tone it up. While you can do these just using your body weight, I recommend supplementing the exercises with some weights for a more intense workout. So start cracking on this list to get your best butt yet!

I made this workout after countless tries of figuring out what works for me at the gym and hopefully this will work for you, too! Stay tuned the rest of this week for more Oscar related posts!
