Prom

photo 5.JPG
One of my close friends and I
Prom. The most overwhelming, expensive, and crazy night that usually doesn't meet your expectations. For some, it's the night of their wildest fantasy, for others, it's just meh. I had always looked forward to prom. I couldn't wait to get a pretty dress and dance the night away. I learned the hard way last year at my junior prom that you have to plan a crap load of stuff in advance and it's probably not going to be as fun as you think it will be. In all fairness, I think junior prom is way over the top with people's expectations and it makes it less fun. I have a theory that it's supposed to be less fun so that senior prom is more enjoyable!

My delicious dinner
Junior prom was fun, but it did not make me want to go to senior prom this year. After much debating, I finally decided to go and I don't regret my decision at all. It was so much fun and it was a great way to finish out my last couple weeks of high school. My class had our prom at the Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, which is right on Narragansett Bay. The place was beyond gorgeous and I so want to get married there when I'm older! We had a room that had a balcony attached so we could take pictures overlooking the water. It was awesome. Dinner was fantastic, too. We had chicken, filet mignon, and mashed potatoes that were to die for. Overall, it was a great night! Not to be overshadowed, the night included someone taking a trip in an ambulance because they passed out from a bad batch of brownies laced with unknown substances, but that didn't bring down the high spirits!

I think in general, you should be open minded about prom and make the most out of your night. Go with friends, have a good time, and enjoy it. Oh and don't screw things up by pre-gaming or doing drugs beforehand; it just ruins the night for yourself and everyone else when you get caught or get sick. Save that for the after parties if that's your thing. You should want to remember this night because it will be one of the most unforgettable experiences of high school that you'll be talking about even years from now.

With that said, here are some pictures of my night:

The Best Beauty of Oscars 2013

With the Oscars only four days away, there is little time we have left to wait until we get to celebrate the best in movies and see the best and worst dressed. Until then, I decided to revisit red carpet past to find the best hair and  makeup of Oscars 2013. People often overlook the makeup and hair when they are busy criticizing the celebs' dress picks. Personally, I prefer seeing the hair and makeup so I can try to replicate it on myself. Unless I somehow find millions of dollars in my back pocket, I won't be able to afford the dresses that they wear.

While some celebs go for very avant garde looks (I'm talking about you, Helena Bonham Carter!), these lovely ladies keep it classy and effortless.

Naomi Watts
Naomi looked so elegant last year with her light makeup and loose hair. She looked effortless and well put together. I hope she chooses a look similar to this one this year because she looks fabulous. Can I please look like her for a day?

Jenna Dewan-Tatum
Jenna seriously looked gorgeous last year. At like 8 months pregnant, she looked like a goddess. (She's like a pregnancy unicorn. 10 points for Gryffindor if you know the reference:) I loved how her smoky eye wasn't overpowering; it was sultry yet elegant. Her hair color is envious and her hair looks awesome in this updo. She not only has Channing Tatum as a husband, but a beautiful face and hair. I'm jealous.

  Jennifer Garner
I wish I could look half as good everyday as Jennifer does in this picture. She looks perfect for anything, whether it's a red carpet event or a day at the office. She has a timeless hairdo and makeup that could be worn by anyone at any time. I'm considering this hairdo for prom because I love it so much.

Charlize Theron
Charlize is STUNNING in this picture. I literally can't even describe how happy this picture makes me. She is so beautiful and her haircut looks great on her. I'm not usually a fan of pixie cuts, but Charlize rocks it. It makes me want to cut my hair that short someday. Overall, she's drop dead gorgeous, so no matter how she styles herself, she will always look amazing.

Lazy Girl Hairstyles

Hello! So if you're like me, you give yourself twenty minutes every morning for so because you value sleep more than anything else and you're in a mad rush to look presentable at school. As much as I love to look good at school, I can't bother to straighten or curl my hair in the morning, unless it's some type of dress up or picture day. I make my hair look decent with these 3 quick and easy hairstyles. In honor of midterm week, I thought I'd show you how to dress your tresses for success in less than 3 minutes.

1. Half Up, Half Down Twist

For this hairstyle, all you have to do is take a chunk of your hair (I prefer using a small one) and twist it away from your face until you reach the back of your head. Then secure with two bobby pins and do the same on the other side and you're done!

2. The Gibson Tuck

The Gibson Tuck.

To be honest, I had no idea this style actually had a name and I was shocked to find a picture of it on the internet because I kind of thought I came up with it. *shamefully acknowledges naivety* So, first, you twist back a small chunk of your hair on either side of your head and pull your hair back into a low ponytail. Secure the ponytail loosely and then split the ponytail above the elastic in half. Roll your ponytail up and then stick it through the hole you created above the elastic and tuck it in firmly. I suggest placing bobby pins in to secure it tightly. Loosen your hair around your face and on the back of your head and you're done!

3. Ballerina Bun

For this look, put your hair in a high ponytail and secure it. Then, split the ponytail in half a twist the pieces in on themselves. Take one of the pieces and wrap it in a bun formation around the other piece. Then take the other piece and wrap it the opposite way around the bun. Secure it with bobby pins and you're done!

I hope you liked the quick hairdos for those days you just can't spend time on your hair. (It's like everyday for me!) Don't forget to share this, follow the blog, and follow me on Pinterest! Have a great day!
